San Francisco Soup Company recently started using bowls that are compostable in San Francisco’s green composting bins. The bowls have a thin poly liner that keeps them from composting in a personal compost bin, but San Francisco’s aggressive compost process filters out the poly liner. Co-owner Steve Sarver told us that the company is moving its entire line of plastic products (spoons, forks, knives, beverage cups, coffee cup lids, salad containers, salad dressing cups and tasting cups) to biodegradable products by August of this year. The company has clearly made a great effort to offer the most environmentally friendly materials possible and I, for one, will be frequenting their locations more often because of it!
